- Database Course
This condition requires that you take a course at an
accredited universityfor both credit and a grade of 'B' or better (MOOC's such as Udemy and Coursera are not approved). The course should cover relational database design and an introduction to database programming.
The course must be completed
prior to the startof your Heinz College program. In addition, upon completion you must request the official transcript be sent to Heinz College directly from the University where you took the course.
All students must notify Heinz College Admissions with the course that they plan to take to fulfill their condition. Students with a Database condition will receive a form via email where they can provide this course information to the Office of Admissions.
Students are strongly recommended to complete one of our pre-approved courses, which have been approved by the MISM faculty. If you would prefer to take an alternative (non pre-approved) course, you must contact the admissions office to verify that the course you are considering meets our standards. If you feel that you have already taken a course(s) to fulfill this condition and received a “B” or better in the course, please email the full syllabus of the course to heinz-conditions@andrew.cmu.edu. If the full syllabus is not in English, please provide us with both the original, as well as a self-translated version.
- Final Transcript
This step applies to you if you applied to Heinzbefore graduating with your bachelor's degreeORif you did not provide anofficial transcriptwhen you applied.
The transcript that was submitted to our office was not your "Final Official Transcript" because it did not include your date of graduation, name of the degree you earned and/ or was not an official copy of the document. Therefore, the transcript we have on file does not provide official proof that you earned your bachelor’s degree. This is a condition of your admission and you must provide anOfficial Final Transcriptthat confirms you have received your bachelor’s degree. In order successfully meet the QSSP condition, students must earn a grade of 'B' or better (80+%) in each of the QSSP courses.
- QSSP orientation will be held on May 30, 2023
- QSSP classes will begin on Wednesday, May 31, 2023
- Classes are held Monday - Thursday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (EDT).
- Instructor/ Teaching Assistants' office hours are held Monday - Thursday from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM (EDT).
- Review sessions are held Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM (EDT).
- QSSP classes will finish on Tuesday, July 11, 2023
- QSSP final exams will be held on July 13 and 14, 2023

Double Deposits
Double depositing means putting down a deposit, and thus accepting admission, at more than one college. Since a student can't attend multiple colleges, it is considered unethical.

The number one reason for students losing their place in the freshman class is a change in either senior classload or grades.
